Over the years, Howard Stern has repeatedly mocked Jennifer Lopez, targeting her looks, talent, and personality. Back in 2000, he criticized her MTV Awards outfit, saying it made her look bad, and even compared her to a hippo.
Howard Stern’s History of Mocking Jennifer Lopez
In 2002, Stern said her Academy Awards dress looked like a potato sack during a rant on his show, according to a MarksFriggin.com recap. By 2003, he was ridiculing her relationship with Ben Affleck, calling it “ridiculous but real,” and joked that her history of marriages suggested she might be mentally unstable. Around the same time, he mocked her singing, saying it sounded like karaoke and proved she wasn’t a great singer.
In 2004, Stern said Lopez came across as strange during an interview with David Letterman, even suggesting Letterman probably wanted to “kill himself” talking to her. He added that the only interesting thing about her was that she was famous and “a nut.”
As her career moved into television, Stern continued to go after Lopez. In 2010, he claimed she was such a diva that American Idol producers initially dropped her from consideration. When she did join Idol, Stern complained in 2011 that while she was beautiful to look at, whenever she opened her mouth she sounded phony and irritating. By 2012, he dismissed her as “the worst judge out there” in an interview.
Howard Stern compared J-Lo to Kim Kardashian
His criticisms continued in the following years. In 2014, when reports surfaced about Lopez starring in an FBI drama directed by Barry Levinson, Stern joked that the only way it could succeed was if her “ass was involved.”
In 2015, he mocked rumors of a s*x tape, compared her to Kim Kardashian, and said she had been rude to him in person, recalling an encounter where she avoided him at a wedding.
Stern took it up a notch, saying he wouldn’t want her sexually, imagined her being knocked unconscious by a coconut, and admitted he found her boring and unlikeable. That same year, after she reacted with disgust to a question about him on Andy Cohen’s show, Stern fired back that he had no interest in her anyway.
Stern even mocked Lopez’s acting. In 2016, he trashed her performance in the TV show Shades of Blue, saying she couldn’t act and looked unbelievable as a cop. In 2017, after watching one episode, he declared it was all he could handle and again criticized her without restraint according to reports.
So despite decades of insults, Jennifer Lopez is set to appear on The Howard Stern Show for an interview, and it’s really hard not to see the irony.
