There has been a lot of speculation surrounding Linkin Park recruiting a new female vocalist, and Halestorm frontwoman Lzzy Hale is the latest name thrown into the mix. Lzzy recently reposted her cover of Linkin Park’s ‘Crawling’ on social media. The 40-year-old posted a video of her piano-led rendition on Instagram on Wednesday, August 28th.
Lzzy Hale is the new vocalist of Linkin Park?
Hale’s cover also coincided with the release of LPU (Linkin Park Underground) tickets. Linkin Park has invited fans to “Be Part Of Something,” which is reserved for LPUnderground members with membership as of August 24, 2024. The cryptic nature of the announcement has fueled further speculation that a major reveal, possibly regarding the new vocalist, could be on the horizon. This timing has led many to believe that she could be stepping in as the band’s new lead vocalist.
Lzzy Hale is widely recognized as a powerhouse vocalist, and she is popular for her ability to deliver both melodic and aggressive performances. Fans seem open to the idea of her filling in for Chester Bennington, who tragically passed away in 2017.
Hale also has experience filling in for a male vocalist in an established band. This summer, she fronted glam metal legends Skid Row, filling in for former vocalist Erik Grönwall for four tour dates. Despite encouragement from her fans and even Jon Bon Jovi, Hale didn’t join the band full-time, citing her ongoing commitments to Halestorm as the reason.
Linkin Park recently posted a mysterious 100-hour countdown timer on their social media accounts and the website URL was showing a YouTube livestream with the same countdown timer.
Fans guessed that the band might announce a new vocalist to replace Chester Bennington, who passed away by suicide in July 2017 at age 41. Fans speculated that Sum 41 frontman Deryck Whibley might have been filling in for Bennington. However, when the countdown reached zero, the timer on their website switched to counting up and it disappointed the fans.
Linkin Park has been without a full-time lead vocalist and has been largely on hiatus since 2017. Earlier this year, Jay Gordon of Orgy stirred the pot when he mentioned hearing rumors about Linkin Park potentially recruiting a female vocalist. He later clarified that his comments had been taken out of context. Evanescence’s Amy Lee was also briefly rumored to be Chester Bennington’s successor, but she quickly debunked those claims.
With the upcoming event in Los Angeles and Lzzy Hale’s recent social media activity, fans are eager for an official announcement. Whether or not Lzzy Hale is indeed the new voice of Linkin Park remains to be seen.
