Jack Osbourne talks about Roger Waters
The younger Osbourne’s comments come as he reflected on Waters’ public criticism of Ozzy and his music. He offered a surprisingly understanding perspective on the 81-year-old musician’s behavior. He suggested that Waters’ controversial statements might stem from deeper insecurities.
“You know, here’s how I kind of look at it. I actually have a bit of empathy for the guy. I do. He’s an old dude. You know, I’m not being ageist. I’m not saying that, but like, the guy’s 81. It’s like, man. Well, I don’t know about dementia, but like I just got it,” Jack Osbourne said.
He continued to elaborate on his perspective. He suggested that Waters’ controversial statements might stem from deeper insecurities.
“I had a bit of empathy because it’s like, man, if that’s what you got to do to get attention at 81, you’re insecure enough to where you’ve got to, you’ve got to involve yourself in all these kind of hot-button issues and you’re, you know, you’re throwing your hat in the ring to like go for bat for all these, it’s like, dude, like, haven’t you, like, shouldn’t you just be confident enough in yourself and in your own accomplishments to just be like, hey, I’m just, you know, I do music. That’s great,” he explained.
Jack wrapped it up on a reflective note, saying it’s better to stay quiet than be negative, and adding that he actually feels some sympathy for the person involved, suggesting their behavior likely comes from personal issues they’re dealing with.
“You know, if you have nothing nice to say, don’t say anything at all. Like why? And I felt, I do feel kind of bad for the guy because I think he’s, he’s clearly got some shit going on, you know, the fact that he has to do that,” he said.
