The White Stripes reuniting this weekend
The White Stripes fans want a reunion at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this weekend, and fans are hoping and speculating that a new note from Jack White is teasing a one off reunion performance. “Bring seven friends” must be referencing Seven Nation Army.
In a new interview with Consequence, Cassandra Peterson, a.k.a. Elvira, reflected on her longtime friendship with Jack White. Recalling how they originally met, she revealed that it was none other than Pee-wee Herman (played by actor Paul Reubens) who introduced them
“It’s so funny. Pee-wee introduced us,” she said. “You know, we were in Hollywood, and he called me one night and said, ‘Oh man, I have tickets to go see Jack White at the Fonda Theater and I can’t go. Do you and your daughter want to go?’ And she was a huge, huge White Stripes fan.
“So I take my daughter and we go there and we get backstage passes, and we’re sitting in the backstage area. You know, my daughter’s going, ‘You think we can meet him?’ And I’m going, ‘God, I don’t know, honey. You know, he’s busy. He’s got a lot of people here.’ He just made a beeline for me and went, ‘Oh my God, you’re Elvira!’ We just have this mutual admiration club, I think. It was so funny.”
“And we just developed a friendship,” she continued. “Almost every year he’d come with Pee-wee to see my show out at Knott’s Scary Farm. And just time went on and we got to be, you know, really good friends. I just adore him. He’s brilliant. And I go to his concerts all the time and it’s freaking awesome, isn’t he? To me, he’s the best guitar player in the business. I mean, after Jimmy Page – Well, Jimmy Page and Jimi Hendrix.”
Since meeting, Elvira and White have collaborated together on several occasions. When asked by Consequence if they would ever want to put out a full album together, she hinted they may already have something in the works. “That is something Jack and I have been talking about,” she replied. “We’ve been thinking on it.”
