On Monday, President Donald Trump stated that Hollywood director and progressive activist Rob Reiner’s passing was likely the result of “anger he caused others” through “TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME.”

Donald Trump reacts to Rob Reiner’s passing

In a post to Truth Social, Trump acknowledged the “very sad” passing of Reiner and his wife, producer Michele Singer Reiner, but did not extend sympathies to the Hollywood stars.

“Rob Reiner, a tortured and struggling, but once very talented movie director and comedy star, has passed away, together with his wife, Michele, reportedly due to the anger he caused others through his massive, unyielding, and incurable affliction with a mind crippling disease known as TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME, sometimes referred to as TDS,” he said.

The White Stripes rocker Jack White responded, “Trump you disgusting, vile, egomaniac loser, child. Neither he nor any one of his followers can defend this gross, horrible insult to a beautiful artist who gave the world so much. To use someone’s tragic death to promote your own vanity and fascist authoritarian agenda is a corrupt and narcissistic sin. Shame on you trump and anyone who defends this. God bless you Rob Reiner and thank you for what you gave the world. I never even met you and I still stand by you. -jack white III.”

The director of “The Princess Bride” and his wife were recently found dead in their Los Angeles home Sunday. Investigation is in progress as the deaths are an “apparent homicide.” Authorities announced on Monday that Reiner’s son, Nick Reiner, is in custody as a suspect. He has been booked on murder and is being held on $4 million bail.

“Trump derangement syndrome” is a term used primarily by Trump supporters to describe those who harbor a deep dislike of or criticism for him.

Reiner was an ardent supporter of progressive causes and candidates and was a sharp critic of Trump. During a 2017 interview, Reiner blasted the President as “mentally unfit” to be president.

Then, in 2018, Reiner accused him of “treason.” In an October interview with MSNBC, now MS NOW, Reiner said the political climate under Trump administration is “beyond McCarthy era-esque.”

On Monday, he suggested that Reiner was killed for his “obsession” over the president.

“He was known to have driven people CRAZY by his raging obsession of President Donald J. Trump, with his obvious paranoia reaching new heights as the Trump Administration surpassed all goals and expectations of greatness, and with the Golden Age of America upon us, perhaps like never before,” Trump said. “May Rob and Michele rest in peace!”
