In a new interview with Rolling Stone, actor and Thirty Seconds to Mars frontman Jared Leto was asked about original Smashing Pumpkins members Billy Corgan, James Iha, and Jimmy Chamberlin reuniting. Leto wasn’t even aware of the reunion, and didn’t seem to care.
Rolling Stone asked, “You’re a Smashing Pumpkins fan. Thoughts on the D’arcy-free reunion?”
Leto responded, “I don’t…I didn’t even know there was a reunion. Sorry.”
Billy Corgan wrote on Instagram on Friday, “The world that made me is the same world that denies you your birthright. And is the same world that says neither I, nor you, exist as we conceive in our own mind’s eye. But if you accept the blessings of such relentless negation, they and only they have the keys to restitution.
This is the maze of the Devil and the Dead. Fake idols, false gods, false life, false world.”
He also wrote about his new solo project, “Not sure when this was taken (93 or 94) but seeing me in my natural state (writing) at my first piano (which I still have) in the living room of my first house (which because I had no credit I had to put 60pct cash down to get a loan), I am grateful to report that another batch of songs (16 for the next solo album, 28 in all recorded) is completed; at least in raw form with many overdubs to go. To explain simply, this means the hard part is over (songs written, arranged, sung and recorded) and the rest is hanging the ornamentation on the tracks. Feeling very, very content tonight for I started writing some of these songs on the ‘30 Days’ trip around America over a year ago.”
