Jimmy Kimmel thanks Howard Stern during return
Jimmy Kimmel recently thanked many famous friends during his return on Tuesday, including his ‘heroes’ Howard Stern and David Letterman. He did not thank longtime friend and former Man Show co-host Adam Carolla, who texted with Kimmel after his suspension. The two have very different political views today.
Jimmy Kimmel thanked some conservative figures for defending him, after the ABC host returned to TV on Tuesday following a temporary suspension.
“Maybe most of all, I want to thank the people who don’t support my show and what I believe, but support my right to share those beliefs anyway,” Kimmel told viewers.
“People who I never would have imagined, like Ben Shapiro, Clay Travis, Candace Owens, [Sens.] Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), Rand Paul (R-Ky.), even my old pal Ted Cruz (R-Texas), who believe it or not said something very beautiful on my behalf,” he added.
Howard Stern celebrates Jimmy Kimmel’s return
On the September 23rd episode of his SiriusXM show, Howard Stern celebrated news that ABC has ended Jimmy Kimmel’s suspension. Stern, a close friend of Kimmel, had spoken out against the suspension on Sept. 22, and by the end of that day, ABC announced “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” will return to the air.
“Well, looks like I solved another problem,” Stern jokingly announced as his show began.
Stern also played a clip from a news show that described him speaking out against Disney as a “pivotal” moment in the Kimmel saga.
“All I had to do was mention I was canceling my (Disney+) subscription,” Stern quipped before asking cohost Robin Quivers, “What should we fix today, Robin? Global warming? I’m on a roll.”
Stern applauded Disney “for doing the right thing” and revealed he spoke to Kimmel on Monday, but doesn’t know what the comedian plans to say in his returning monologue. “I just told him that I was very happy that this thing was resolved,” Stern said.
Stern had said he would cancel his Disney+ subscription in protest of ABC’s parent company but he told listeners he didn’t have the chance to do so before the suspension was lifted.
