Joe Satriani has confirmed that he is still working with Sammy Hagar, ending rumors that he might have left the band. Fans started to wonder about his status after he was missing from a video Hagar posted before a concert in San Antonio last month. However, in a recent Loudwire interview, Satriani made it clear that he is still part of Hagar’s plans.

“I’m writing and recording music with Sammy, getting ready for two tours, and working on art projects for Wentworth Gallery,” Satriani said. “I also recently started a new collaboration with a famous artist, which I’m really excited about. I always keep moving forward and don’t have time to sit back and celebrate my past work.”

Satriani is currently part of The Best of All Worlds tour, which started on July 13 in West Palm Beach, Florida, and ended on August 31 in St. Louis, Missouri. The tour features Sammy Hagar, Michael Anthony, and Jason Bonham, playing music from Van Halen’s Hagar era.

One of Satriani’s biggest challenges has been playing the legendary guitar parts originally performed by Eddie Van Halen. In a Blabbermouth interview, he explained that he wanted to stay true to Eddie’s style while also making the songs feel natural for him. “Eddie’s playing was full of energy, joy, and creativity,” he said. “I want to honor that while still playing in my own way.”

Satriani and Hagar have worked together before. They were both in Chickenfoot, a band that included Michael Anthony and Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith. The group released two albums between 2009 and 2011, and even though they haven’t played together in years, Satriani and Hagar have stayed close.

Aside from touring with Hagar, Satriani has a busy schedule. He recently announced a 44-date solo tour across the U.S. and Canada, running from September 21 to November 19, 2025. This tour will support his album The Elephants of Mars and showcase his signature guitar style.
