Neal Schon recently shared a photo with Steve Perry on X, adding a winking emoji. Fans were thrilled and began speculating about a possible reunion.

One fan commented, “Don’t you dare be teasing!!” while another said, “Omg! What??? Could something really be happening here? That would be amazing! Maybe even a future collaboration between Neal and Steve as a bonus for us fans—how cool would that be?”

Another person urged, “Come on, Neal. Do something before it’s too late. You both created some of the best music of the 20th century.”

Steve Perry left Journey in 1998 after being diagnosed with a bone condition that disrupted the band’s “Trial by Fire” tour. There were rumors that Neal Schon had a part in Perry’s departure, but Schon has denied this in interviews. In 2003, he said, “Steve Perry was an incredible singer, and I hope he makes a solo album. People miss his voice, but it wasn’t my decision for him to leave the band.”

Perry reunited with Journey briefly for their Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction in 2017, though he didn’t perform. His last full concert with the band was in 1987. He also made appearances in 1991 at a tribute show and in 2005 for the band’s Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony. Since 2007, Arnel Pineda has been Journey’s lead singer.

Earlier this year, Journey faced legal drama when Jonathan Cain sued Neal Schon, accusing him of overspending the band’s money. Schon denied the claims, calling them false.
