The rock legend, who is popular for his wild lifestyle recently offered a surprisingly straightforward answer when it came to the secret behind his enduring health.
“Healthy living. Go to bed early. There’s nothing like it. That’s the formula: Be a good boy,” Richards said.
Richards then turned his attention to the future, reflecting on his creative drive and what lies ahead for him and the band.
“Anytime the whistle blows, I’m there and I’m up for it. Always got a few songs in the bag. I’m sure Mick does, he never stops,” he continued. “Making, that’s what I do, so you’re automatically thinking about what you’re going to do next. So it’s sort of there in the making.”
The comments offer a rare glimpse into Richards’ mindset at 82. His health-conscious habits and his creative momentum have also remained very much intact.
The interview came at a moment when Richards appears more focused and productive than many artists half his age.
Richards returned with his solo album ‘Old Grump’ in 2024, his first major solo release since 2011. The record showed that his passion for writing and recording new music remains as strong as ever.
He has also stayed active on the road, performing throughout The Rolling Stones’ 2024–2025 ‘Hackney Diamonds’ tour. Even in his eighties, Richards handled the demands of a major global tour, continuing to take the stage with the energy fans have come to expect.
Away from music, Richards has made lasting changes to his lifestyle. He has remained alcohol-free since 2010, a dramatic departure from the hard-living image that defined much of his younger years.
