Soundgarden are currently working on a new album featuring the final recordings of late frontman Chris Cornell.
In a new interview with KOMO News, guitarist Kim Thayil offered an update on the album’s release, explaining that the band is still working through contractual and logistical matters before a date can be set.
“We don’t [have a release date yet]. We’re dealing with the record label, trying to work out contractual understandings. And you have to think about the promotion, the production… So we have to work all that out and coordinate it with ourselves, management, the record label, and all those processes are in motion,” he said (via Blabbermouth).
“And again, it’s very different. I mean, it’s been so many years, a lot of these contractual obligations expired, so we have to kind of work them out again.”
In a previous interview with Ultimate Guitar in July, Thayil said the band was “aiming for next year” as a potential release window for the album.
