KISS guitarist Tommy Thayer recently weighed in on renewed chatter regarding the band’s future, suggesting the door remains open for new recordings despite the group’s recent farewell era. Thayer’s comments come as fans continue to scrutinise every post-tour appearance for clues about whether KISS could still make new music.

Tommy Thayer talks about KISS new music

In an interview with Classic Rock History, Thayer stated that he is aware of the speculation and added, “I’ll leave those questions and answers to the powers that be, but I hear the rumblings, too. And honestly, I can’t imagine not recording with KISS again at some point.”

Thayer also recalled the band’s KISS Kruise Landlocked event in Las Vegas, describing how the group returned to the stage after a two-year break. He said the shows “went really well,” and recalled that putting the set together, rehearsing, and playing again was “smooth as silk.”

He added that the time away appeared to sharpen the band’s approach once they were back in the same room, saying everyone was “inspired to go out and kick a little more ass than usual.”

Thayer also indicated fans could see more special events, echoing the idea that KISS may remain active in selective ways, a topic that has followed the group since questions emerged about whether KISS could end its retirement for a new album.

No official announcement has been made about studio plans, and Thayer did not offer a timetable. Still, his remarks keep the possibility in play and suggest that KISS’s post-farewell story may not be limited to one-off performances.
