Monday was the 27th anniversary of the release of Nirvana’s landmark album Nevermind, and Kurt Cobain’s daughter posted a photo of a pool along with what she is thankful for. It’s unclear if she specifically did this to mark the anniversary, but a baby chasing a dollar in a pool is seen on the Nevermind album cover.

Cobain wrote, “I am grateful for:

Large bodies of water

Baby goats

Possessing deep empathy

Venus flytraps

Chronic pain, because it forces me to humble myself & acknowledge what my body is saying (even when it’s screaming)

The color periwinkle.”

In a 2014 Rolling Stone interview, she said about Nirvana, “I don’t really like Nirvana that much grins. Sorry, promotional people, Universal. I’m more into Mercury Rev, Oasis, Brian Jonestown Massacre [laughs]. The grunge scene is not what I’m interested in. But ‘Territorial Pissings’ (Nevermind) is a fucking great song. And ‘Dumb’ (In Utero) — I cry every time I hear that song. It’s a stripped-down version of Kurt’s perception of himself — of himself on drugs, off drugs, feeling inadequate to be titled the voice of a generation.”
