Kurt Cobain’s daughter, Frances Bean Cobain, and Riley Hawk are celebrating one year with their son Ronin.

On Wednesday, September 17th, Cobain posted multiple photos in an Instagram carousel showing her husband Hawk, posing with the infant, as well as other sweet photos of Ronin over the past 12 months. This is the closest look fans have seen yet at Ronin’s face.
Hawk cradled the newborn in one cute image, as another showed him snuggling his son, who was wearing a brown and cream jacket and beige hat.
Cobain, who is the daughter of Courtney Love and late Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain, captioned the post, “One year of ronin walker! ✩°𓏲⋆🌱. ⋆⸜ ✮˚ it’s been the most magical, life affirming, overwhelming & tender year of all. What a gift it is to watch his life unfold. He is so loved ⋆✴︎˚｡⋆⋆✴︎˚｡⋆✴︎˚｡”
Hawk, the son of retired pro skater Tony Hawk, also shared an adorable black and white photo on Instagram to celebrate their son’s milestone birthday.
In the snap, Riley was all smiles as the infant looked up at him. “Happy 1st birthday to my best buddy! We love you so much Ronin ❤️,” he captioned the post.
Frances and Riley announced they’d welcomed their first child together in an Instagram post on September 28th, 2024. The proud mom revealed that the couple’s son was born on September 17th of that year and was named Ronin Walker Cobain Hawk.
Ronin’s first birthday comes after Riley spoke to PEOPLE in July regarding their “quiet” family life.
The professional skateboarder said while discussing the legacy each of their families carries, “We just do our own thing. We don’t really think too much about it, honestly, other than the fact that we do stuff like this with a video game, or whatever it may be, or something regarding her side of the family,” referencing him promoting the release of the video game Tony Hawk’s™ Pro Skater™ 3 + 4.
“But other than that, we’re just a very quiet stay-at-home family. We just hang out,” Hawk insisted.
