Late frontman Linkin Park frontman Chester Bennington’s mother, Susan Eubanks recently came up with bold allegations against Mike Shinoda. Chester’s mother has “upset” over Linkin Park’s decision to replace Chester with Emily.
During an interview with Rolling Stone, Susan Eubanks claimed that Linkin Park had previously assured her that she would be notified about any future changes should its members continue performing as a group. However, Eubanks felt “betrayed” as the band, hired Emily as Bennington’s replacement.
Eubanks noted that Bennington’s first wife, Samantha Marie Olit, and their son Draven (22), were also unaware that Linkin Park were reuniting with Armstrong until they announced it to the world.
She then alleged that over the last couple of years, both Joe Hahn and Mike Shinoda personally made a promise to her that they would fill her in on any happenings with Linkin Park. Hahn and Shinoda let Olit and Draven know when they were planning to share the previously unreleased tracks that Bennington sang on (“Lost,” “Friendly Fire” and etc.).
Chester Bennington’s mom opens up on Mike Shinoda
“He often put Chester down,” she said about Shinoda. “He said Mike told him at rehearsal that, ‘If you decide you’re leaving, we’re going to replace you with a girl.’ And Chester was dumbfounded and hurt.”
However, in a statement to Rolling Stone, Chester’s ex-wife Samantha Bennington refuted Eubanks’ version of the events and said, “I have not spoken with Mike Shinoda since I was married to Chester. I have not seen him since prior to my divorce in 2005. I believe my mother-in-law is mixing up bands between Linkin Park and Grey Daze. Grief and sadness messes with your memory.”
The addition of Emily Armstrong to the band garnered mixed reactions from the fans and Mike Shinoda has also addressed the same. Meanwhile, she has received support from Chester’s widow, Talinda Bennington. She seemingly approved of the band’s choice to replace Chester. But, Chester’s son, Jamie Bennington expressed his distaste.
