While answering fan questions on Discord, Linkin Park’s co-lead singer Mike Shinoda opened up about why the band has chosen to focus on playing more of their new material during their recent live shows than their older, Chester Bennington era, tracks.
“I hear your song requests. We are in the fortunate position of having too many songs to play,” he wrote.
Shinoda then made a bold declaration: “New songs > old songs, right now at least.”
The musician then clarified his comments, saying that he and his Linkin Park bandmates are simply enjoying playing the songs they wrote with their new singer Emily Armstrong.
“Not marketing. Band loves the new stuff + it’s Emily’s voice,” he added.
When asked by a fan why they haven’t played any songs from their album “One More Light” on this tour, Shinoda responded: “No reason, other than ‘we all like the songs we’re playing, and we’ll get around to other songs at some point.’”
