“Casualty” is the sixth track from Linkin Park’s eighth studio album, From Zero. The band recently performed the song for the first time on November 8th at Globe Life Field in Dallas, Texas.
Fans are speculating that the lyrics to the song might be Linkin Park vocalist Emily Armstrong’s direct message to the Church of Scientology and her upbringing, given that Emily is the original writer of the song. However, some fans feel that Linkin Park songs have different interpretations and it might not be the correct speculation.
Former Scientologist Chrissie Carnell Bixler, who is the wife of The Mars Volta’s Cedric Bixler-Avala, had criticized Emily Armstrong due to her ties to the Church of Scientology. She stated that Armstrong has ‘no right to fill the shoes of Chester Bennington, a true advocate.’ She also posted several other allegations.
Armstrong replacing Chester on Linkin Park’s new album, From Zero, has received a lot of criticism and even sparked controversy. Critics pointed out Armstrong’s association to the Church of Scientology and her alleged friendship with actor Danny Masterson, who was publicly accused by several women in November of 2017, including Carnell-Bixler.
Emily had even addressed the situation. “Hi, I’m Emily. I’m new to so many of you, and I wanted to clear the air about something that happened a while back,” Armstrong wrote in her Instagram Story.
“Several years ago, I was asked to support someone I considered a friend at a court appearance, and went to one early hearing as an observer. Soon after, I realized I shouldn’t have. I always try to see the good in people, and I misjudged him. I have never spoken with him since. Unimaginable details emerged and he was later found guilty.”
Linkin Park’s new album From Zero is arriving on November 15th and the band is set to continue their tour in support of From Zero this November.
