Luigi Mangione reportedly revealed in a letter he likes Linkin Park’s song with their new singer Emily Armstrong, as he’s listening to “Up From The Bottom” in prison.

Luigi Mangione, the 26-year-old accused in the high-profile assassination of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, has unexpectedly become the subject of a controversial musical theater production. Titled Luigi the Musical, the show is set to premiere on June 13 at the Taylor Street Theatre in San Francisco. The production takes a satirical approach, portraying Mangione as a complex figure trapped between viral fame and societal decay.

The musical was created by songwriter Arielle Johnson and director Nova Bradford, who cite classic productions like Chicago as an influence. The storyline incorporates surreal jailhouse scenes featuring characters based on other public figures Mangione was allegedly incarcerated alongside, including Sam Bankman-Fried and Sean “Diddy” Combs. The show examines the media circus that erupted around Mangione following his arrest, particularly focusing on his smirking face after removing his balaclava, an image that quickly went viral and aided in his capture.

Luigi the Musical has already sold out its opening night but is drawing criticism for potentially glamorizing a tragic event. The creators argue their intent is not to glorify Mangione but to hold up a mirror to a society captivated by spectacle, sensationalism, and a growing distrust of institutions from healthcare to entertainment.
