Metallica guitarist Kirk Hammett and many others have reacted to UFO’s Paul Raymond dying at 73 after a heart attack, just as the band had kicked off their final world tour.

Kirk Hammett wrote, “To the Late Great
Paul Raymond –
Make more Metal in Heaven Bro !!! 🖤🖤🎸🖤🖤 🤘 #paulraymond #ufo 📷 by @rosshalfin.”

Jeff Kollman wrote, “The UFO family and music community is mourning the loss of the multi talented and secret weapon Mr. Paul Raymond.

I wanted to share a song and a memory working in the studio with Paul. We were setting out to record what would be a new UFO record in 1998. In an effort to avoid a legal entanglement with Michael Schenker we decided to the call it Mogg/Way just prior to the release. I remember Paul having heard most of the demos pulling me aside and saying something like “Hey Jeff this is YOUR time with Phil. You guys have a THING. Just let me know what you need from me”.
Can you imagine? I haven’t done any big record dates or anything except my original band up to that point and I’m looking at a legend that has been in the business for 30+ years at that time. How cool does that make Paul Raymond? He knew how to serve the music and not let the ego get in the way. Amazing. R.I.P. Paul.”

Michael Schenker, “We woke up to the very sad news today that Paul Raymond passed away.

‘It is unbelievable. Paul Raymond was a great musician and loved Rock and Roll. My condolences to his loved ones. Rest in peace my friend.'”
