Lars Ulrich has revealed that Metallica played a show on May 25, 1982 in Costa Mesa, CA, with attendance of 200, with it appearing that 40 stayed until the end. Ulrich called the performance poor in a tour diary.

Ulrich also recently reminisced about Metallica’s 1996 return, “23 years ago today the video for Until It Sleeps premiered on MTV..

Shot in LA a few weeks earlier, it was directed by Samuel Bayer…and after being off the radar for a few years and returning with a new album, we were ready to express ourselves in new ways and fuck with the perceptions.

Such a fun time…”

He posted a few days ago, “Fun dinner date in SF !!

Thank you to Bill and Cathy for supporting the @allwithinmyhandsfoundation by rolling out to the Helping Hands benefit last November and placing a generous bid for the auction item of dinner and beverages with your Danish Drummer.

Also, thank you to Jin Park and our friends at @AnglerSanFrancisco for donating the experience..and a special fuck yeah to executive chef Nicolas Ferreira for baking a whole fuckin pie and and supplying a tub full of whipped cream along side it!! Still coming down.. incredible.”

Metallica are currently on tour, with dates featuring Slipknot as an opener booked. The band plan to begin work on a new album later this year after wrapping up their tour.
