Michael Anthony, former Van Halen bassist, has seen it all—the highs, the lows, and the dynamics that shaped one of rock’s most iconic bands. In a recent interview, Anthony shed light on the fights between Alex and Eddie Van Halen while making music in a new video.

During his appearance on the Rock Camp Podcast, Michael Anthony opened up about the often volatile relationship between Alex and Eddie Van Halen. While the two brothers shared an unbreakable bond, their creative process was anything but harmonious.

Despite the tension, the Van Halen brothers always managed to channel their disagreements into groundbreaking music. For Anthony, however, the chaos often left him walking on eggshells.

Michael Anthony’s relationship with Alex Van Halen wasn’t always smooth sailing.

Over the years, Anthony faced his own issues with Alex and Eddie. These tensions became particularly evident during the recording of Van Halen III. Anthony revealed that his role was significantly reduced on the album, with Eddie taking over many of the bass parts.

The 2004 reunion tour with Sammy Hagar was supposed to be a celebration, but behind the scenes, tensions were boiling over. Michael Anthony, who had always been close to Hagar, found himself caught in the crossfire between Sammy and the Van Halen brothers.

By 2006, the cracks in Van Halen’s foundation were impossible to ignore.

Ultimately, Anthony’s departure came down to a combination of personal and professional disagreements. His decision to stick by Hagar was seen as a betrayal by the Van Halen brothers, leading to a painful split that left fans heartbroken.

During an interview, Greg Renoff, author of Van Halen Rising: How a Southern California Backyard Party Band Saved Heavy Metal, spoke about Michael’s split from Van Halen
