“A tire flew off the trailer swerving across the freeway. The bus hit a sign on the freeway, thank God for our great driver he kept the bus under control and didn’t crash,” he wrote in the caption of his video documenting the incident.
In the video showing the damage to the bus, he elaborated further on what transpired. “The wheel came off the trailer here. So the bus went swerving all over the freeway and smashed into the overpass. You can tell here. You can see the top of the bus there, smashed there. Everybody’s alright. We’re gonna make it to the show.”
Despite the frightening experience and visible damage to the tour bus, all passengers remained safe. John 5 confirmed that the tour would continue as planned.
In October 2022, John 5 officially became Mötley Crüe’s touring guitarist, stepping in for Mick Mars, who retired from live performances due to health issues. In an interview with Guitar World, he shared that the opportunity felt like a dream come true. He had known band members like Nikki Sixx and Tommy Lee for years and had always been a fan of the band’s music.
