Motley Crue bassist Nikki Sixx praised Led Zeppelin and other rock titans in a new interview as he slammed Ariana Grande.

USA Today asked, “You recently slammed Ariana Grande on Twitter, after she tweeted that she wasn’t performing at the Grammy Awards because producers stifled her ‘creativity and self-expression.’ What don’t you like about her music?”

Sixx responded, “I don’t know, man. Do you go into (Baskin-Robbins) and just buy vanilla every day? I’m so tired of the pop scene, it’s so contrived. I’m like, ‘Same chord patterns. Same song. Different singer.’ I grew up with Aerosmith, Led Zeppelin, David Bowie, Elton John. There’s some talent out there. But when she was (tweeting about skipping the Grammys), I was like, ‘I don’t know if I would consider her art.’ I think it’s kind of like Taco Bell: you eat it, then you (expletive) it out and move on.”

Nikki Sixx recently discussed Motley Crue reuniting to record new material for The Dirt film in a Billboard interview.

“We really only needed one song, but there were multiple songs [we came up with], and they were all called ‘The Dirt,’” recalls Sixx. “As we were working on them, some songs fell away, and we kind of boiled [it] down [to] these three songs, which was a surprise. I thought we were just going to get one out of it.” He said the label loved them but instructed the band to rewrite their choruses so they all didn’t say “the dirt.” Sixx agreed, but only changed the names. “I was just like, ‘They sing so good! Why have Vince re-sing this? It sings so good. The parts are so good.’ So I changed one to ‘Crash and Burn,’ and one’s called ‘Ride With the Devil,’ and then we got ‘The Dirt [Est. 1981].’”
