Neal Schon Apologises After Journey Stagecoach Evacuation
Journey guitarist Neal Schon has addressed fans after the band’s scheduled set at the Stagecoach Festival was called off at the last minute following an emergency evacuation. Schon and keyboardist Jonathan Cain both issued apologies, saying they were prepared to perform but were informed the site was being cleared due to dangerous conditions.
Rock Celebrities reported that Schon told fans the evacuation and cancellation decision “was not made by us,” adding that it was communicated to the band’s team during the emergency situation.
In his statement, Schon said safety had to come first for “our fans, crew, and everyone on site,” while thanking attendees for their patience and support despite the disappointment. Cain echoed the message and pointed to “high winds” as the factor that made conditions unsafe, stressing that the group was waiting and ready to go on.
The abrupt halt comes amid a wider run of Journey-related headlines, including recent reports on internal band tensions such as claims that a Journey member has ‘no contact’ with Neal Schon.
Festival organisers have not announced whether the cancelled set will be rescheduled, but the incident underlined how quickly extreme weather can disrupt large outdoor events, even when artists and crews are in position to play.
