CagedTiger on the Below Empty forums has done some internet sleuthing and uncovered the lyrics for Stone Temple Pilots’ new songs “Never Enough” and “Thought She’d Be Mine.” The tracks will appear on the band’s second self-titled album, set for release on March 16th.

CagedTiger wrote, “Okay so I managed to zoom in on the Amazon picture and decipher the lyrics for a few of the new songs… I’ve created a new thread so I could label it with a spoiler tag for those who don’t wish to view the lyrics to songs we haven’t heard yet. Also I thought for those who do we could discuss the lyrics here. I know straight away a few people are going to speculate this one is about Scott and his exit from STP, especially with the use of the word ‘anarchy’ and some of the other lyrics…”

Jeff Gutt is the singer, so it seems unlikely he’d write a lot about Scott Weiland and would likely draw more from his personal experiences, so let us know in the comments what you think about the lyrics!

Never Enough

You’re all bark, but no bite
It’s alright, you’re in the middle
It’s ok, you’re on fire
You’ll expire, in just a little while

What a poor little baby
Ah, such a poor little baby

No it’s never enough
You’re hiding away where no one can touch

Now you tell me that you can do better
But we both know you can’t ‘cuz you’ll never
Put away your anarchy
‘Cuz now we both know that you’re
No good for me

In the dark, without light
It’s alright, you’re in the middle
It’s ok, you’ll conspire
With desire, in just a little while

What a poor little baby
Ah, such a poor little baby

No it’s never enough
You’re hiding away where no one can touch

Now you tell me that you can do better
But we both know you can’t ‘cuz you’ll never
Put away your anarchy
‘Cuz now we both know that you’re
No good for me

Pre Chorus/Chorus

Thought She’d Be Mine

I swim in oceans of blue sky
Autumn Hazy
They tell me it’s only you
Anticipating the one thing that could save me
But somethings not right with the moon
Every time I get by I get closer to thinkin’
And we don’t need that again
I’ve been sinking in blue eyed Autumn baby
Still thinking back to when

I thought she’d be mine
Thought she’d be mine…
Mine in the morning

I walk the streets out of time
So tired and lonely
Never to be the same
It could’ve been something beautiful if only
I opened my eyes too late
Every time that I try words get lost in the wind
And we don’t need that again
I’ve been thinking of blue eyed Autumn baby
I used to remember when

I thought she’d be mine
Thought she’d be mine…
Mine in the morning
