Nikki Sixx Defends Vince Neil After Fan Dig

Mötley Crüe bassist Nikki Sixx pushed back after a pointed comment about frontman Vince Neil circulated online, with the band’s co-founder stepping in to defend his longtime bandmate during a fan Q&A exchange.

During the discussion, Australian actor David Campbell asked Sixx if he felt embarrassed performing with Neil and suggested the singer should “eat a salad and maybe hit the gym,” prompting a sharp response that Sixx posted on X.

Sixx replied, “You don’t need to be an asshole David. Were not all perfect life you,” framing the exchange as a personal attack rather than fair criticism of the vocalist’s current performances.

The dust-up lands as Neil continues facing scrutiny from parts of the fanbase over his live vocals and stage presence, with some observers saying recent clips have fuelled fresh debate about whether the singer is meeting expectations on major shows; Sixx has previously addressed similar flare-ups, including a prior moment where he fired back at an insult aimed at Neil.

For now, Sixx’s response signals the band’s public unity, even as online commentary about Neil’s performances remains a regular feature whenever new footage surfaces.
