Nine Inch Nails Tron soundtrack leaks

As anticipation builds for Tron: Ares, the liner notes for Nine Inch Nails’ soundtrack album from an early leak have given fans a clearer picture of Trent Reznor’s singing on the record — and it’s sparked plenty of discussion.

Trent Reznor provided vocals for four songs

As per the liner notes, Reznor provides vocals on just four tracks: “As Alive As You Need Me To Be,” “I Know You Can Feel It,” “Who Wants To Live Forever?” and “Shadow Over Me.” The remainder of the album is made up of instrumental pieces, crafted in collaboration with Atticus Ross, that build out the film’s atmospheric sound.

It seems that this has already fueled debate among fans. While some had expected Reznor’s voice to be featured more prominently, others see the limited vocals as an intentional choice, with the majority of the work serving as a score designed for the digital landscapes of the Tron universe.

The soundtrack, featuring a mix of instrumental and vocal tracks, is set to be released on September 19th, 2025, with the film coming out on October 10th, 2025. The film’s director wanted a “grittier, more industrial” feel, which he believes Nine Inch Nails’ sound is well-suited for.

For now, the liner notes confirm that Tron: Ares will be a different kind of Nine Inch Nails experience, one where Reznor’s voice punctuates the soundtrack, but the instrumentals dominate the world-building.
