In a new interview with Nylon, singer Olivia Rodrigo was asked whether she’s “seen any good shows” since wrapping up her most recent tour. Among the artists she mentioned was Nine Inch Nails.

“Oh my gosh. I’ve been seeing so many shows,” Rodrigo said. “I saw Coldplay the other day in London, which was so spectacular. Chris Martin is just such a lovely person. I saw Nine Inch Nails at The Forum, which was epic. I love Nine Inch Nails so much. I saw Dua Lipa the other day, that was great. I saw my friend Chappell Roan the other day too, which is obviously always an incredible show. She’s such a great performer. It’s so much more fun.

“I always say, every time that I enter someone else’s tour, I just say a little prayer. I’m like, ‘Oh wow. I’m so grateful that I could just drink a glass of wine and just chill. I’m not nervous right now.’ I just always remember to be grateful that I’m not having weird stage fright.”

While Rodrigo’s love of Nine Inch Nails may seem unexpected to some, it is not at all surprising. Although she’s best known as a pop singer, Rodrigo’s musical taste is impressively wide-ranging.

In a 2023 interview with Rolling Stone, Rodrigo named Rage Against the Machine as her favorite band, saying that she listened to them constantly. She added that she’s such a big fan, she was “literally going to cry [herself] to sleep” over not having time to attend their Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony.

Rodrigo has also listed Babes in Toyland as one of her biggest influences, hired The Breeders as the supporting act on her “Guts World Tour,” has called Jack White her “hero of all heroes,” sang “Burning Down the House” with David Byrne at the 2025 Governors Ball, performed with Robert Smith of The Cure at Glastonbury 2025, and most recently was brought out as a special guest during Weezer’s Lollapalooza set.
