Ozzy Osbourne’s Opener Had Embarrassing Moment
Fear Factory guitarist Dino Cazares recently shared one of his most embarrassing stage moments. In an interview with Metalshop, he said it happened while opening for Ozzy Osbourne in the U.S.
Cazares explained that during the show, while some of his family were in the crowd, the button on his shorts broke. As he was headbanging and performing, his shorts slipped down and exposed him without him realizing at first.
“One of the most embarrassing moments that I had was one time I was playing opening up for Ozzy,” Cazares said. “This was in the United States. And some of my family members were in the crowd watching the show and I was headbanging, going crazy, and my button on my shorts broke and I didn’t notice.”
“My shorts slipped down and of course my thing was sticking out,” he admitted. He quickly ran to the side of the stage, where his guitar tech taped up his shorts with gaff tape. Importantly, he never stopped playing through the whole incident.
The moment was embarrassing, but Cazares stayed professional and finished the show in front of his family and while supporting a legend like Ozzy.
Cazares Co-Founded Fear Factory
Cazares is considered a key figure in industrial metal. Beyond founding Fear Factory, he has also played in bands like Divine Heresy, Asesino, and Brujeria. He is known for using seven and eight-string guitars as well as pioneering digital amp modeling, both of which influenced many other metal acts.
Although Fear Factory has gone through major lineup changes, especially after singer Burton C. Bell left and Cazares became the only original member, the guitarist continues to push forward. The band is working on new music with a new vocalist.
This story shows not only the unpredictable side of live shows but also Cazares’ resilience and professionalism. These qualities have kept him influential in the metal scene for decades.
