Howard Stern paid tribute to rock legend Ozzy Osbourne, who recently passed away at 76. Calling him “one of the most fabulous guests” in the history of The Howard Stern Show, Stern remembered Ozzy for his groundbreaking music with Black Sabbath, his successful solo career, and his pop culture impact through the hit reality series The Osbournes.

Stern recalled encouraging Ozzy and his wife Sharon to do a reality show, saying their whole family was so entertaining on-air. He also shared memorable moments from past show appearances, including the day Ozzy met Paul McCartney for the first time in Stern’s green room.

“One day, I can’t believe this, I had a show where I had Ozzy on in the morning and Paul McCartney on after Ozzy, and the two of them met in my Green Room for the first time,” Howard recalled. “It blew Ozzy’s mind.”

Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich also joined the show to reflect on Ozzy’s influence, remembering how Metallica got one of their first big breaks opening for him in 1986. Ulrich said he felt lucky to perform with Black Sabbath at their final concert just weeks before Ozzy’s death, describing it as an incredible performance that gave no hint it would be his last.

Born in 1948 in Marston Green, Warwickshire, England, Ozzy is survived by his wife Sharon and their children. Stern ended his tribute simply: “Rest in peace, Ozzy.”
