Lulu Simon, the daughter of legendary musician Paul Simon, is upset with actor Richard Gere for selling her childhood home in Connecticut to developers who plan to tear it down and build new houses.

On Tuesday, Lulu, 30, posted on Instagram blasting Gere, writing that she still hates him. She said Gere bought the 31.8-acre property in New Canaan in 2022 and promised he would take care of the land, but instead never moved in and later sold it off to developers, dividing it into nine plots.

“He bought my childhood home,” she wrote. “Promised he would take care of the land as a condition of his purchase. Then sold it to a developer as nine separate plots.”

Lulu didn’t give details about what kind of promise was actually made, but she was clearly upset. She later posted a photo collage of Gere surrounded by pictures of her old pets, writing that she hopes the animals buried in the backyard will haunt him and drive him into “a slow and unrelenting madness.”

The estate, which featured a six-bedroom main house, a large guest house, pond, pool, and courtyard, has a long history with her family. Paul Simon and his wife Edie Brickell bought it for $16.5 million in 2002. Paul recorded many of his albums there. In 2019, they tried to sell it for $13.9 million but couldn’t find a buyer for years.

In 2022, Richard Gere purchased the estate for $10.8 million. Reports at the time said he planned to turn part of the land into a farm. However, after only two years, Gere and his wife Alejandra sold it in October 2024 for $10.75 million, taking a slight loss. They reportedly sold it so they could move to Spain to be closer to Alejandra’s family. Gere told Vanity Fair Spain he felt it was fair to give her time living in her home country after she spent six years in his.
