Evan Stanley Gets Engaged

In a 2024 interview with the X5 Podcast, Evan Stanley talked about opening for his father’s band as the lead singer of his own group, AMBER WILD.
Evan said that playing shows and then watching KISS perform every night pushed him to improve and study his craft.
He explained that you can never try to outdo KISS, but you can focus on being the best version of yourself. Evan said watching KISS taught him valuable lessons, especially because of how consistent their performances are. According to him, there are no bad nights—only different levels of great.
“For us to get to play and then watch them every night, it really makes you up your game and study what you do,” Evan said. He explained that you can’t try to outdo KISS, adding, “You never wanna be another band—you can’t out-KISS KISS—but you can be the best version of you. The difference between a bad night and a great night? They’re only great nights. They’re just different shades of great.”
Discovering KISS Later in Life
Evan admitted he didn’t grow up listening to much KISS because it felt like his dad’s work. “It was more dad’s band and dad’s job,” he said. Around age 17, he decided to listen as a fan, starting with KISS Alive. “I was like, ‘Whoa, this is actually so sick,’” he said, which led him to explore their full catalog.
Respect for the Music Beyond the Show
Evan pushed back on the idea that KISS is only about spectacle. “All the theatrics aside, which are awesome, they’re just great songs,” he said. He added, “They have incredible songs, timeless songs, great players—and they blow up a million pounds of s**t every show. How do you top that?”
