Former Pearl Jam drummer Dave Abbruzzese discussed his firing letter and “Glorified G” in a new Facebook post.

“This f**king song was not written about me loving guns. It was based loosely on a conversation that started with a question as to the fact that I had purchased 2, 22 caliber rifles for having while camping up in the wilderness.

I don’t glorify guns, and presently do not own any guns. The line ‘always keep it loaded’ was a statement from Jeff Aments father to Jeff. What Eddie turned the song into came from a conversation we had with embellishments from him to make a statement that he wanted to make and we in the band supported.

To be associated with the idiocy, cowardice and hatred behind people shooing people is sickening. Anyone that associates this sentiment with me is absolutely off their nut.
Everyone that knows me, knows this.

In a letter to me long ago, right after my firing, the bands then manager, Kelly Curtis, mentioned my owning guns as one of the reasons I didn’t fit the PJ mold. It was as laughable to me then as it is now.”

A fan commented, “So let me get this straight: Eddie doesn’t like guns because they kill people, yet he’s ok with killing babies in the womb ?? 🤷🏻‍♂️ Doesn’t make sense…. But ok.”

Dave responded, “‘m not pro abortion. Very few people are. I am for a woman’s right to choose what she does with her body. It’s not for me or for politicians to decide. That’s my 2 cents.”
