Dave Navarro’s guitar tech Dan Cleary did podcast about the Jane’s Addiction drama, and AintNoRight.org‘s Hokahey wrote a recap. The podcast is about Perry Farrell’s fight with Jane’s Addiction in Boston and what led to it.
“Band supported Perry. If he was struggling during a song would help him. Would tell him if he had a great show.
Flat out says Perry was f**ked up. Says there were NO sound issues. They knew he was f**ked up earlier in the day in NY show 1. Perry singing words to wrong songs. It’s not the wine. Says he really doesn’t drink much despite appearances. Said some days he’d show up from his private bus and be staggering. Blank look in his eyes. Not drunk. F**ked up.
Dan is unequivocal the sound level wasn’t changing. Perry did complain previously sound was too loud. They brought sound down as much as possible for them to still do their jobs.
Nothing changed sound/equipment wise between the bad shows and good shows.
After first NY show band told him he couldn’t turn in performances like that anymore. Very heated but all heard each other out.
Before: Perry told Dave you’re taking too long after show. Stop giving out picks and set lists. Saying ruining mystique of the band.
Before 2nd NY show Perry seemed sober again. Dave told him he loved him and let’s go kick some ass.
Boston show. Perry shows up. Crew member tells Dan while watching Perry get off bus “this is going to be worse than NY” because he’s so obviously f**ked up.’
