Donald Trump Visits Graceland, Struggles on Elvis Song
President Donald Trump made an impromptu stop at Elvis Presley’s Graceland estate in Memphis, Tennessee on Monday, following a law enforcement roundtable at a Tennessee Air National Guard hangar. During the visit, Trump repeatedly praised Presley, telling an audience of National Guard soldiers and federal law enforcement officials that he “love[d] Elvis,” before heading a few miles away to the landmark home and museum.
Inside the mansion’s Jungle Room, Trump invited reporters to ask him a question about Presley but appeared to hesitate when pressed for a favourite Elvis song; The Independent reported that, after a pause, he turned to the tour guide and eventually cited “Hurt,” adding that there were “very few” Presley songs he did not like.
Trump, who was accompanied by Attorney General Pam Bondi, said it was his first time visiting Graceland. He also told the earlier roundtable crowd that he never met Presley, even as he claimed to have known other entertainers of the era, and joked that he sometimes felt he should say he did.
The site remains one of the most visited attractions in the United States, drawing hundreds of thousands of visitors each year. Presley died in 1977, and the estate was later opened to the public as a museum in 1982 after being inherited by his daughter, Lisa Marie Presley.
Trump’s stop in Memphis added a pop-culture moment to a day otherwise focused on law enforcement policy, arriving as his administration faced continued scrutiny over broader national issues, including tensions abroad and economic pressure at home.
