Jello Biafra, the former singer of Dead Kennedys, joined the band Cavalera on stage recently to perform the song “Nazi Punks F**k Off.” However, he introduced it with a new title: “Nazi Trumps F**k Off.”
Cavalera, which includes former Sepultura members Max and Iggor Cavalera, is currently on tour in the U.S., playing songs from early Sepultura albums. During their concert on March 3rd at the Marquis Theater in Denver, Max Cavalera surprised the crowd by bringing out Biafra as a guest.
Before performing, Biafra spoke to the audience, explaining the song’s meaning. He said that it was originally written about violent behavior in mosh pits, comparing it to Nazi-like aggression. Over time, however, the song became an anthem against real dictatorships, especially in places like Brazil and Eastern Europe.
He then took aim at the political climate in the U.S., saying, “For the first time ever, we are staring at a real live fascist dictatorship with red, white, and blue brown shirts all over this country.” He also mentioned his strong opposition to Donald Trump, hinting that he could face backlash for his statements.
After his speech, Biafra and Cavalera played an intense version of the punk anthem, which Dead Kennedys originally released in 1981. Fans in the audience captured clips of the performance, which are now available to watch on Instagram and YouTube.
