Red Hot Chili Peppers fans have had long waits for new albums in recent years. There were four years between By the Way and Stadium Arcadium, five years between Stadium Arcadium and I’m With You, and another five years between I’m With You and The Getaway. But now, just two years after the release of The Getaway, Anthony Kiedis has told the New York Post that the Chili Peppers are headed back to the studio to begin work on a new album.

When a set of spangled garments from designer label Libertine failed to materialize in time for the brand’s spring runway show Monday, the Red Hot Chili Peppers frontman was forced to make a difficult wardrobe decision.

“I got to the door of the hotel and I was like, ‘Where’s my sequins, goddammit?’ ” he tells The Post. “And they said, ‘Oh, they just arrived.’”

But the catwalk countdown was on. “I was like, ‘Too late; I gotta go!’ ”

Luckily, Kiedis arrived at his front-row seat to find sheets of Libertine promo stickers, which he then unpeeled and stuck all over his Adidas jacket. One teddy bear decal ended up on his cheek.

“That’s an actual birthmark,” he tells The Post.

Kiedis doesn’t like to keep fans waiting, either. He revealed that the Chili Peppers will begin work on a new album in about two weeks.

The singer’s controversial mustache, which he’s been rocking since the band last recorded, is staying put for now. “If my son asked me to shave it, I would shave it,” says the dad of 10-year-old Everly. “But he loves it.”
