Red Hot Chili Peppers have released the following statement:

“Due to Anthony Kiedis’ hospitalization from complications from the intestinal flu on Saturday evening, the Red Hot Chili Peppers regretfully must postpone their upcoming concert for iHeart Radio on May 17th. They would like to extend their gratitude to the fans for the outpouring of well wishes. Anthony is expected to make a full recovery soon.”

Anthony Kiedis’ mother has offered an update on her son’s health on Facebook, while also asking that fans stop adding her. Read a portion of her post below as transcribed by Alternative Nation.

“I tried to get two hours of sleep this morning, and my phone buzzed constantly with friend requests from people I do not know. I need to leave my phone on so my son can call and let me know how he’s doing so I can send an update. Please respect my requests. I am so grateful to all of you, but I’m not the Head Honcho and just want to be a mom!”

AnthonyKiedis.net is reporting that Kiedis will not need surgery, and is ‘going to be OK.’

Alternative Nation has reached out to the two nearest hospitals to the Verizon Wireless Center in Irvine, Hoag Hospital Irvine and Kaiser Permanente for an update on Kiedis, and both claimed that they never had a patient by the name of Anthony Kiedis. Red Hot Chili Peppers canceled their performance at the KROQ Weenie Roast last night in Irvine, CA at the Verizon Wireless Center/Irvine Meadows when Kiedis was rushed to the hospital with reported stomach pain.

Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith tweeted last night, “NO one’s more disappointed than us that we couldn’t perform tonight. Sending love and a speedy recovery to my brother Anthony.”
