Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith has posted a new studio photo that offers a first look at Anthony Kiedis’ lyrics on the new RHCP album, and a look at John Frusciante’s guitars. Frusciante recently revealed how he’ll innovate on the new album.

Tutuzao93 posted, “Zooming in the paper behind the guitars I understood that:

-Lyrics:

(…) Turn You

(…) contraire

(…) (wi)ll soon arrive

…re you have saved

… now divide

-Something about the chorus-VCVO – I guess verse, chorus, verse, outro-…OVBO – Outro(?), verse, bridge, outro. Anyone knows those lyrics? are they new?”

Exxarxis asked, “Didn’t John say that he was only going to record with one guitar?” Atrybom answered, “I think he just meant no overdubs.”

Which at the end of the Stadium Arcadium tour, he was basically doing anyway. I remember him taking the Gretsch out of the lineup, and he had given Josh the Tele already. So I guess he’s just continuing where he left off! haha

It will be cool if he uses just ONE guitar for the whole record.”

Red Hot Chili Peppers’ last album with John Frusciante was 2006’s Stadium Arcadium. The band’s most recent release was 2016’s The Getaway, with former guitarist Josh Klinghoffer, who they fired in 2019.
