Scott Lipps recently interviewed Red Hot Chili Peppers frontman Anthony Kiedis on Dash Radio. Alternative Nation transcribed some of their conversation.

Scott Lipps: Talk a little bit about the charity that you’re involved with, the Silverlake Conservatory in the schools and all the stuff you do.

Anthony Kiedis: Well, it’s not really a charity, it’s a school.

Scott: It’s a school, but you do this benefit every year

Kiedis: Annual benefit, yeah.

Scott: And you’ve had Metallica and whoev–

Kiedis: We’ve actually haven’t had Metallica, they owe us a show.

Scott: Oh, I thought that they played.

Kiedis: They haven’t, they haven’t. In theory, they’re signed up to play.

Scott: Is this a Mo Austin tribute that I’ve read about?

Kiedis: So every year we try to honor somebody, which is just kind of a way of getting momentum and rallying the troops but Mo at age 91 who gets asked to do stuff all the time and says “Eh, I rather not thanks”, agreed to do this for us so we honored Mo Austin who started Reprise Records and actually signed Jimi Hendrix, Neil Young, worked with Frank Sinatra and is a very historically important icon of the music industry.
