Rob Schneider recently reflected on President Donald Trump’s polarizing remarks regarding the passing of Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele.

Rob Schneider opens up on Trump’s comments

The president has faced backlash for posting what many are calling a highly-insensitive message on social media about Reiner’s tragic killig, with people on both sides of the political spectrum taking issue with his remarks—including Schneider.

Despite being known for his vocal nature, his conservative political beliefs, the comedic actor admitted that he did not approve of Trump’s comments on Reiner’s death.

Schneider went on to discuss how even his own political beliefs differed from those of Reiner, who was an outspoken critic of Trump. (Schneider, on the other hand, endorsed Trump in the 2024 election.)

“Rob Reiner and I, maybe we’d disagree vehemently politically, but we could agree comedically,” Schneider said on Tuesday. “We could agree on what made those movies so funny that he made.”

Following the news of Reiner’s death, Schneider shared his own heartfelt tribute on X, where he wrote, “Human beings, Rob Reiner and his wife Michelle have been tragically killed today. I am deeply saddened. Every life is sacred and given by God, our creator.”

He went on to call Reiner “One of the most accomplished American directors who ever lived.”

“His movies have been adored by generations, but I will remember him most for making me laugh my guts out with my Dad watching the greatest American tv show of all time, “All In The Family.” I will be praying for his friends and family that they may find solace and peace,” he concluded.

On the other hand, actor James Woods, an ardent supporter of President Donald Trump, hit back at “horrible things” that were said about actor and director Rob Reiner following his death.

In a Fox News interview on Monday, Woods slammed people saying “horrible things” about Reiner, without naming anyone in particular.

“When people say horrible things about Rob right now, I find it, quite frankly, infuriating and distasteful,” Woods said to Fox personality Jesse Watters.

Woods praised Reiner during the interview saying he was “a great patriot.”

“At a very, very down point in my career, Rob literally saved my career and really put me back on track in a way that was so important and rewarding in my life,” Woods said. “He really fought for me when a studio didn’t want me in a movie … I went from really being basically out of a job to getting an Academy Award nomination, and I give all the credit to Rob.”
