Glenn Hughes recently talked about how legendary guitarist Ritchie Blackmore has become very private and hard to reach. In an interview with Rock History Music, Hughes shared that he hasn’t seen or spoken to Blackmore in a long time, even though they used to get along well when they played together in Deep Purple.
“Ritchie Blackmore is a great guitar player and a good man,” Hughes said. “He’s a bit strange and very eccentric, but also very interesting.”
Hughes explained that Blackmore has pulled away from everyone, even old friends.
“We haven’t seen each other in years,” he said. “You can’t call him or visit him anymore. No one really sees Ritchie now. I just send him my love.”
Blackmore has kept a low profile in recent years. He doesn’t do many interviews and only performs occasionally with his folk rock band, Blackmore’s Night, alongside his wife, Candice Night.
Even though they haven’t spoken in a long time, Hughes still respects Blackmore and cares about him. His kind words show that strong connections in music can last, even when people lose touch.
