Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Reiner, have been found dead at their Brentwood home from stabbing wounds, according to multiple sources speaking exclusively with People. The outlet reports that Michele and Rob were discovered by her daughter, who then contacted authorities.

Sources tell people that the Reiners’ son Nick allegedly murdered his parents.

Sources told People that Rob and Michele was found slain inside the residence, though officials have not publicly released further details regarding the circumstances of their death. Law enforcement has not yet confirmed a cause of death, and an investigation is ongoing.

Reiner, an acclaimed filmmaker known for directing classics such as This Is Spinal Tap, The Princess Bride, and A Few Good Men, has not made a public statement at the time of publication. The couple had been together for decades and were well known in Hollywood circles for keeping their private life largely out of the spotlight.

People reports that authorities responded to the scene after the daughter made the discovery, and the case is being treated seriously as investigators work to determine what happened. No arrests have been announced, and police have not commented on whether foul play is suspected beyond confirming the nature of the deaths.
