Rod Stewart Slams Donald Trump Over NATO Remarks

Rod Stewart has publicly condemned Donald Trump after the President made remarks questioning the bravery of NATO troops. Stewart, who once counted Trump as a friend, called him a “draft dodger” in a video message reacting to comments Trump made during a Fox News interview in Davos.

“I may just be a humble rock star. I’m also a knight of the realm, and I have my opinions,” Stewart said. “It hurts me badly, deeply, when I read that the draft dodger Trump has criticized our troops in Afghanistan for not being on the front line.”

Calling for an Apology

Stewart went further by urging U.K. leaders to take action. “We lost over 400 of our guys. Think of their parents. Think about it!” he said. “And Trump calls ’em almost like cowards. It’s unbearable.” He directly appealed to Prime Minister Keir Starmer and Reform UK leader Nigel Farage, asking them to demand an apology.

Reaction Across Britain

Trump’s comments sparked anger across party lines in Britain. Starmer responded strongly, saying, “I will never forget their courage, their bravery and the sacrifice they made for their country… I consider President Trump’s remarks to be insulting and frankly appalling.” He added that if he had made such remarks himself, “I would certainly apologize.”

Prince Harry Responds

Prince Harry, who served two tours in Afghanistan, also weighed in without naming Trump directly. “Allied nations stood with the United States… I lost friends there. Those sacrifices deserve to be spoken about truthfully and with respect.”

A Friendship Now in the Past

Stewart has criticized Trump before, but repeatedly calling him a “draft dodger” marked a sharper break. Reflecting on their past, Stewart previously said, “I knew him very, very well… But since he became President, he became another guy. Somebody I didn’t know.”
