Roger Waters Fires Back at David Draiman
Roger Waters has escalated his public dispute with Disturbed frontman David Draiman after Draiman criticised the Pink Floyd co-founder’s political commentary during a recent podcast appearance. The exchange centres on the Israel-Palestine conflict, with both musicians trading sharply worded statements across social media in the past 24 hours.
During an episode of Billy Corgan’s podcast, NME reported that Mr. Draiman said he felt Waters’ stance amounted to a “massive betrayal” to “Jews everywhere” and added that if they ever met, he would “have to punch him first” before being willing to talk.
Waters responded on X on April 16, addressing Mr. Corgan and claiming he had never heard of Draiman before the clip was forwarded to him. In the post, Waters accused Draiman of opposing his advocacy for human rights in Gaza, used inflammatory language to describe both Draiman and the Israeli state, and alleged Draiman has written messages on bombs before they were dropped in Gaza.
The latest clash follows earlier rounds in their feud, including past Draiman comments accusing Waters of antisemitism; Alternative Nation previously reported on Draiman’s prior attacks on Waters as the two artists traded barbs over Waters’ activism and calls to boycott Israel.
Draiman replied to Waters by saying he had been open to dialogue despite their deep disagreements, adding that the response was “disappointing, but predictable,” and insisting he was still willing to try for peace. The back-and-forth arrives as Waters continues to face ongoing controversy around his political statements, with the latest comments likely to intensify scrutiny around his public messaging.
