Roger Waters makes Syd Barrett remark
Roger Waters is coming under fire for his remarks about Ozzy Osbourne, but he also made an offensive remark recently about Kim Kardashian’s behind and about Pink Floyd co-founder Syd Barrett.
He said about Barrett, “I was way too busy in the late 60’s, considering [Syd] had gone loopity loop (uses fingers to signal lost his mind) and couldn’t write songs anymore. So somebody had to take over the reins of Pink Floyd.”
While roleplaying as a person of power, who he imagines pulls the strings of distraction, Waters also told Independent Ink: “How can we push this to one side? I know how to do it! We’ll do it with Taylor Swift or bubble gum or Kim Kardashian’s bum.”
Waters then dropped his fictional character and turned the conversation towards Osbourne, making the remarks causing an uproar.
“… Or Ozzy Osbourne, who just died, bless him, in his, whatever that state that he was in his whole life, we’ll never know. Although, he was all over the TV for hundreds of years with his idiocy and nonsense,” Waters said.
He continued, taking aim at Osbourne’s musical career:
“The music, I have no idea, I couldn’t give a f*ck. I don’t care about Black Sabbath, I never did, I have no interest in…. ‘Wahhhh!!!’ [spoken while sticking his tongue out and doing an impression that looked more like Gene Simmons than Osbourne] and biting the heads off chickens or whatever they do. I couldn’t care less.”

This has led to Ozzy fans resharing a tweet from 2023 made by David Gilmour’s wife Polly, “Sadly
@rogerwaters you are antisemitic to your rotten core. Also a Putin apologist and a lying, thieving, hypocritical, tax-avoiding, lip-synching,misogynistic, sick-with-envy, megalomaniac. Enough of your nonsense.” Gilmour responded at the time, “Every words is demonstrably true.”
On Tuesday (Sept. 2nd), Ozzy’s son Jack Osbourne took to social media to denounce Waters’ comments. Hitting back at the musician, Jack wrote:
“Hey Roger Waters – f*ck you. How pathetic and out of touch you’ve become. The only way you seem to get attention these days is by vomiting out bullsh*t in the press. My father always thought you were a c**t – thanks for proving him right. #f*ckrockerwaters”
