Sammy Hagar recently addressed the possibility of a Van Halen reunion in a comment on Instagram. A fan had asked the legendary rock musician about the chances of the iconic band getting back together.

Sammy Hagar opens up on potential Van Halen reunion

Hagar expressed his deep desire for a reunion while acknowledging the obstacles preventing it. He explained the current situation regarding the band’s future. He also shared what he and other musicians are doing instead.

Hagar said, “I would love that more than anything in the world, but Eddie is gone and Alex has sold his equipment and is physically unable to play.”

Despite the chances of a full Van Halen reunion being bleak, Hagar highlighted an alternative way fans can experience the band’s music. He noted that he and other musicians have created a tribute of sorts to keep the Van Halen legacy alive.

He continued, “Michael Anthony and I with Kenny Aronoff and Joe Satriani play 14 Van Halen songs in our set. Come see us March Vegas residency or a summer tour about to be announced.”

Eddie Van Halen had actually wanted reconciliation with Hagar before his passing in 2020. Plans for a Van Halen reunion quietly progressed through what would have been called the “Kitchen Sink tour.” This lineup would have reunited Hagar, Eddie, Alex, and Michael Anthony for what could have been a historic comeback. The chances of that reunion ended with Eddie’s passing in 2020.
