Sammy Hagar recently commented on Alex Van Halen shunning him in Van Halen’s legacy.
Sammy Hagar opens up on Alex Van Halen
The Red Rocker recently posted some photos from Rock Hall rehearsals and wrote, “Cool x Kool & the Gang at Rock Hall rehearsals. (Scroll) Gettin’ ready to celebrate and induct some old friends and legends tonight.”
“Alex Van Halen doesn’t mention you once in his book,” a user said in the comment section. “So strange?” Hagar replied to the fan.
Alex has been promoting his memoir, ‘Brothers.’ The drummer recently talked about why he didn’t want to join the Best of All Worlds tour, “I’m not interested. They’re not doing the band justice. They can do what they want to do. That’s not my business.”
Van Halen fans reacted strongly to Van Halen’s comments. The news was featured in several outlets, and fans were not happy about it. “WTF is his problem. Of course they are. And fans love it. VH brothers were extremely difficult and Roth is absolutely impossible,” one user on X wrote.
Music journalist Dave Wight also noted, “Well maybe if you had participated, they could have done the band justice. Al seems to have a bug up his ass with Sammy.”
“The more Alex opens his mouth, the less I like him. Sammy made him some serious money. Sammy could also sing in tune, write songs, and perform. Oh, and play well with others,” one other user wrote.
Hagar had wanted Alex to join them on the Best of All Worlds tour but the drummer didn’t respond to him.
“I’m sure when he made his book deal, they said, ‘You cannot talk to Dave [Lee Roth, original Van Halen singer], and you cannot talk to Hagar,’” Sammy said, referring to ‘Brothers.’ “I guarantee you, that that was part of the deal.”
“Mike and I reached out to Alex before we did this. We reached out to him a dozen times before this tour, in every way. Email, text message, phone call, message on the machine, OK? No response. No response,” Hagar also noted in another interview.
Alex’s autobiography arrives on October 22, 2024.
