Sammy Hagar is still facing backlash for replacing Jason Bonham with their current drummer, Kenny Aronoff.

In a video they recently shared on their Instagram account, Hagar and Aronoff talk about changing the setlist every night, saying they are going to make the fans very happy with their decision. However, fans still couldn’t get used to Aronoff being the new drummer of the band.

In the comments section of the video, a user commented wrote: “What happened to Jason, he’s so good,” Another wrote, “Bring back Jason!!!”

Another fan wrote: “Get another drummer. Kenny is not the right guy for the job…yikes.”

Hagar has been quiet about replacing Bonham for months. However, he later named two reasons why they replaced the drummer and discussed why Aronoff is better than him – joining last minute but learning all the songs in an instant.

“There’s two reasons. Number one, he’s one of the greatest drummers on the planet,” he said. “I think he’s been on more million-selling records than any musician in the world. And he did so well on this tour, and he plays with Joe on a full-time basis.”

He continued, “Keeping this ‘Best of All Worlds’ band together is difficult when you got Jason doing his thing, you got Joe doing his thing, you got Mike and I. We need our beach time and our taco nights, Taco Tuesdays and stuff. Trying to get it together, it really helps by having Kenny’s schedule be with Joe. If Joe’s available, Kenny’s available, and it’s not trying to put pieces together.”

Bonham shared that he was ‘a little shocked’ when he learned that Hagar would continue performing with Kenny Aronoff. Bonham had to step away in late August due to a family emergency, and Aronoff initially filled in as a temporary replacement. Aronoff made his debut with the band at the Riverbend Music Center in Cincinnati on August 27 and later became a permanent member.
