Sammy Hagar records with Nickelback’s Chad Kroeger
Former Van Halen singer Sammy Hagar is in the studio recording with Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger, and Pantera drummer Charlie Benante is playing drums.
To add to the all-star lineup, Mötley Crüe’s Tommy Lee was also filmed hanging out with the group during the sessions, fueling speculation about what kind of project this might be.
Hagar, now 77, has remained active on the road with The Circle, and his Van Halen tribute band’s residency in Las Vegas, but this new collaboration suggests he’s not just looking back — he’s still chasing new ideas. Kroeger, meanwhile, has kept Nickelback moving with their Get Rollin’ album and world tour. Benante has been holding down the drums for Pantera’s highly anticipated reunion shows, and Tommy Lee continues to tour stadiums with Mötley Crüe, with the band playing a residency in Las Vegas right here, right now.
Fans are already speculating online, wondering if this supergroup moment will lead to a single release, an album, or even live shows. Hagar previously had the supergroup Chickenfoot with Chad Smith on drums. Whatever is next, when you put a legend like Hagar together with Kroeger, Benante, and Lee, we’ll definitely get something rocking.
Hagar is one of rock and roll’s nicest guys, as he even just defended longtime rival David Lee Roth.
